  WHAT IS SEASONS OF PURPOSE?

One of my favorite aspects of living in the Midwest
is the change of seasons:

The glorious blossoms of spring from bulbs and branches

The first smell of newly mown grass

The reds and golds of autumn leaves splashed across a hillside

And, yes, even the first snowfall or the glistening iced branches

We talk (and gripe!) about the changing seasons as we stand in line with strangers at the grocery store or colleagues at the office microwave. But who do we talk with about the changing seasons of our lives?

When I lived in California we were occasionally awakened by the jolt of an earthquake. It was sure to be THE topic of conversation the following day.

"What did you do when the earthquake hit?"

     "Did you feel the aftershock?"

"Is anything broken at your house? I saw a crack on my wall."

But who do we talk to about the earthquakes in our lives? You know, those "cracks" in our best laid plans when we find ourselves suddenly single or unemployed or facing sandwich generation issues that will affect our daily lives?

Seasons of Purpose are opportunities spread before each of us at various points in our lives.

A new season can spread before someone at any age. Do you feel the urge explore a different career? You may know what you have tried and failed to do but you would love to know what your talents are? A change in health or a disability can alter expectations of our stamina or productivity. Aging or fragile parents can become more than an additional "tug" in our daily lives. Retirement is on the horizon but looks awfully boring as it gets closer. An unexpected financial windfall can open new doors while an investment gone sour can dash other dreams.

Seasons of Purpose may compel us to assess our faith and core values as well as our talents, gifts, skills and passions.

New seasons may excite us about recovering a long delayed goal or dream. They are exciting opportunities to set a new course ahead. And they are a great opportunity to partner with a coach.

My coaching practice works with people in transitions - those seasons of life that are expected as well as the earthquakes that shake up your life plan. As a seasoned pastor, I have journeyed with five different generations of parishioners. I have experienced the seasons of life personally as well as vicariously through the lives of hundreds of friends, family members and congregants. I am prepared to share that experience and sense of purpose with you.
